The challenge
Rising energy costs and a cooperative-wide sustainability commitment required measurable reductions without disrupting a 24/7 operation.
Our approach
We metered and modelled the steam, ammonia refrigeration and compressed-air systems, identified heat-recovery and control opportunities, and designed a condensate and flash-steam recovery system, refrigeration compressor sequencing and a compressed-air leak and pressure-reduction programme. Implementation was managed with the plant's maintenance team.
The outcome
Verified savings exceeded the audit estimate, payback was under two years, and the plant now reports energy performance monthly through an ISO 50001 aligned system.
